Soldotna, Alaska - David Thomas Romberg, age 75, passed away in Soldotna, Alaska on November 11, 2025.

David was born December 15, 1949 at Loma Linda Hospital in Southern California to Edmund (Ed) Harold Romberg and Rhonelda (Pat) Charlotte Romberg. He graduated from Banning High School in 1968, during which time he won several awards for football as a lineman and for track and field throwing the discus and shot put. David attended and played football for San Jacinto Junior College, University of Nevada Reno, and Azusa Pacific College, where he graduated in 1973. In 1974 he took a road trip to Alaska; he fell in love with the "Last Frontier" and quickly moved there after marrying Cynthia Lynn Curtis. He spent the remainder of his life enjoying the outdoors and raising his four children on the Kenai Peninsula.

David worked in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay for British Petroleum for 33 years, retiring in 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Pat Romberg, and survived by his brothers, Stephen and Brian, former spouse Cynthia, children Kristin (Shannon) Romberg, Eric (Michelle) Romberg, Kurt Romberg, and Hannah (Alex) Lemont, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren John, Jarrett, Eliza, and Hazel.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 2pm at San Gorgonio Memorial Park (2201 N. San Gorgonio, Banning, California). All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in David's memory to the Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges or the Soldotna Library Friends.
